About C-FB Council

Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Council PTA was organized in 1959.  The Council PTA has always enjoyed a close partnership with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.  There are six cities within the school district, including Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, Dallas and Irving.  This Council PTA currently supports 36 PTAs, including 3 early childhood PTAs, 23 elementary PTAs, 6 middle school PTAs, and 4 high school PTSAs.  We provide training, information and services to local PTAs through a variety of communication styles with our local PTA leaders.

As part of Area 16, our Council is affiliated with both the Texas State and National PTAs.

Purpose of C-FB Council

A Council PTA is composed of local PTA units as approved by the Texas PTA and is organized for the following purposes:

  • To unify and strengthen local units comprising the council
  • To provide a venue for local unit members to network and exchange ideas
  • To serve as a link between district, state, national and the local PTA
  • To promote Texas and National PTA programs
  • To build support for Texas and National PTA legislative action
  • To provide ongoing leadership and job-specific training
  • To role model effective organizational procedures and leadership skills
  • To focus the attention on youth-related concerns and issues
  • To spearhead community projects encouraging efforts in improving the education and welfare of all children and youth
  • To assist in the formation of new PTAs according to the plan of the Texas PTA
  • To guide, but not dictate to, local units

Council Goals

  • Increase Council visibility within the Local Units
  • Increase awareness of the Council's resources and benefits to the Local Units

General Information

The CFB-ISD Council PTA has aimed high to improve and enrich our many existing programs/projects and to create new ones as needs arise within our council, local units, schools, and community.  Preparation/training, inclusiveness, team-building, mentoring, role-modeling, communication, recognition, and effective leadership have been the Council’s goals as we work cooperatively with our school district and our local PTAs to give every child one voice.

Some notable accomplishments include:  Understanding Diversity workshops and development of a multi-language PTA brochure/membership form; President Lunch & Share sessions; Nominating Committee/Elections Workshop; Chairman/Officer Training; Used Book Sale; Vendor & Program Fair; Clothes Closet; Education Adequacy Committee; annual Principal and PTA President Luncheon; and a new website.
