Purpose of C-FB Council

A Council PTA is composed of local PTA units as approved by the Texas PTA and is organized for the following purposes:

  • To unify and strengthen local units comprising the council
  • To provide a venue for local unit members to network and exchange ideas
  • To serve as a link between district, state, national and the local PTA
  • To promote Texas and National PTA programs
  • To build support for Texas and National PTA legislative action
  • To provide ongoing leadership and job-specific training
  • To role model effective organizational procedures and leadership skills
  • To focus the attention on youth-related concerns and issues
  • To spearhead community projects encouraging efforts in improving the education and welfare of all children and youth
  • To assist in the formation of new PTAs according to the plan of the Texas PTA
  • To guide, but not dictate to, local units

2008-2009 Council Goals

Carrollton-Farmers Branch Council PTA will be the most effective visible, valuable, volunteer driven organization of the community with the purpose of supporting our school district’s mission of having every child learn at a high level.

Our PTA Council will become more visible in the community.

  1. Promote a Kick Off in August to excite and invite all parents to get interested in PTA; broaden our PTA audience, and build a community presence.
  2. Increase our visibility in the community through expanded Public Relations activities and advertising all our activities.
  3. Continue our local board visits with the purpose of sharing the PTA message, confirming the communication channels of Council PTA, and identifying future leaders from all schools.

Our Council will build the value of PTA in our training.

  1. Evaluating and adjusting training materials to provide up-to-date information and methods.
  2. Broaden the interest in PTA by promoting all the various programs and partnerships of C-FB, Texas, and National PTA attracting veterans, ethnic groups,  and  new leaders.
  3. Build connections among all local PTAs of idea sharing and resource sharing through blogging, websites, email, and phone contact.

Our Council will improve our effectiveness in all projects.

  1. We will add job specific training for Council Delegates about their responsibilities.
  2. We will communicate directly the needs, activities, and Council goals to Council delegates.
  3. All positions will focus on our multicultural attributes by training local PTA boards to be “anti cliques” and build community.
  4. We will get involved with contacting every person that completes a volunteer form to ask their help and talk with them.
